Parquet flooring is also known as Herringbone flooring. It has its origins in ancient Roman times. Romans designed footpaths using the pattern that matched the bones of a Herring fish. They found this a much more stable and durable construction.
Later in Versailles, France during the late 1600s, it was used as a basis for a style of wooden flooring. It then became very popular in Victorian houses. Not surprising that today it is regarded as having a classic and chic style. Interior designers love it.
Parquet flooring has a unique and immediately recognisable pattern. It consists of a crisscrossed layout. Visit our showroom in Cavan Town.
